Doual'art is an association with nonlucrative goal of cameroonian law, founded in Douala in 1991. This center of contemporary art is specialized in the artistic interventions in urban environment.
The operational team, reduced, includes a director, person in charge for the activities of urban development, an artistic person in charge, a organizer-manager, a part-time accountant, a barmaid and a dispach rider. However, Doual'art works regularly with a network of approximately about thirty creators of Cameroun and besides.

A place of culture

Located at the heart of the historical and prestigious district of Bonanjo, space doual'art, preceded by a raised privative garden, offers a large room of 200 square meters under 5 meters of ceiling, and another room of 40 square meters under 3 meters of ceiling. A cafeteria, a library specialized in visual arts, a photo laboratory and offices supplement the equipment of it.
The annual programming proposes from 6 to 7 exhibitions in the large room, and from 10 to 12 exhibitions or fixings in the small room.
Moreover some events, such as small concerts, small theatrical or choreographic forms, readings of texts can be programmed along the season.
Lastly, the videos and conferences of Thursday inform each week on the topicality and the history of visual arts.

An actor of the urban development

In addition, most of the activities of doual'art proceed apart from its walls, in disadvantaged districts, and more particularly in Bessengue Akwa, a district built in a marshy zone of the district of Douala 1st.
Association leads a work of support to the local development in partnership with the municipality to create services or utility services defined by the inhabitants, such as the drainage, the construction of footbridges or terminals fountains. This work is accompanied by a policy of quasi continuous artistic offer.
Lastly, Doual'art proposes and supports the implementation of artistic and cultural policies municipal. Initiator and core of a network of contemporary creators of Central Africa, doual'art also proposes its expertise at other cities of under area.
